AREAS
OF PRACTICE
Over
the past 40 years, one thing that hasn't changed is the firm's focus
on client service. Stolberg & Townsend, P.A. continues to focus
its practice on protecting injured and disabled individuals, with
heavy emphasis on the areas of Personal Injury, Auto Accidents,
Workers' Compensation, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation,
Social Security Disability, and State Disability Retirement. Our
attorneys' backgrounds and experience include medical malpractice
and insurance defense work.
Automobile
Accidents, Personal Injury, and Wrongful Death
Much of our practice is devoted to representing people injured due
to the negligence of others, such as automobile, motorcycle, and
pedestrian accidents; dog bites, slip and falls, etc. In the event
of injury and death due to the negligence of another, we represent
individuals and their surviving dependents. We explore all avenues
of liability and coverage to obtain maximum compensation for all
of our clients. Please contact us for a free consultation regarding
any negligence claim.
Workers'
Compensation
Under Florida law, employees injured on the job are entitled to
specific benefits such as medical care and lost wages. We represent
employees and their surviving dependents to ensure they receive
the maximum compensation and the proper medical treatment they are
entitled to under the law. We can help our clients with a variety
of problems involving Workers' Compensation such as denied and disputed
claims, payment delays, inadequate medical treatment and other difficulties.
Our thorough investigation of each case includes consideration of
not only Workers' Compensation coverage, but also Social Security
Disability, liability of parties other than the employer, the Americans
with Disabilities Act and other potential benefits. This has led
to specialized experience in these areas, as well as Personal Injury
litigation.
Social
Security Disability
Federal law provides monthly Social Security Disability benefits
for individuals who suffer from a long-term, major disability that
prevents employment. For applicants who have had benefits, we will
prepare and try the case before an administrative law judge, and
to the Social Security Appeals Court, if necessary.
Longshore
& Harbor Workers' Compensation
Under Federal law, employees who are injured while at sea or in
related work area such as a wharf, dry dock, or terminal are entitled
to compensation. While the benefits are similar to general Workers'
Compensation, the legal details and coverage differ from those provided
by state law. In Tampa, where thousands of workers are employed
at the nation's eighth busiest port, this is an important legal
specialty.
General
Services
In additional to the firm's areas of specialty, we can assist clients
with the writing of wills, simple real estate and commercial contracts,
powers of attorney, and general litigation. For complex matters
involving other areas of law, we will be happy to recommend and
co-counsel with qualified attorneys who specialize in the appropriate
field. We hope you will consider us your attorneys for any legal
need. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
